In today’s hyper-noisy world, it is hard to get anyone’s attention. You need a platform to be seen and heard. Thankfully, it’s never been easier. In this book, Author Michael Hyatt discuss how to use social media to build your brand, decrease your marketing costs, and increase your impact.
To be successful in the market today, you must possess two strategic assets:
● a compelling product and
● a meaningful platform.
In this step-by-step guide, Michael Hyatt, former CEO and current Chairman of Thomas Nelson Publishers, takes readers behind the scenes, into the new world of social media success. He shows you what best-selling authors, public speakers, entrepreneurs, musicians, and other creatives are doing differently to win customers in today’s crowded marketplace.
Hyatt speaks from experience. He writes one of the top 800 blogs in the world and has more than 100,000 followers on Twitter. His large and growing platform serves as the foundation for his successful writing, speaking, and consulting practice
➽ Isn’t a great product enough?
➽ Shouldn’t it be able to stand on its own?
When there were three TV channels and two kinds of toothpaste, quality alone could sell itself.
But in a global economy crowded with millions of competitors, quality is just the beginning. The real challenge is getting the attention of those who might buy your product or service.
Two little words have combined to make this easier, less expensive, and more possible than ever: social media. Websites, blogs, apps, and social networks — used in concert and with savvy — can connect you with a global audience.
No gatekeepers. No massive fees. Michael Hyatt knows from experience. An author, agent, and publisher for more than thirty years, he has spent the past eight years creating an online following that numbers in the hundreds of thousands — all while leading the largest inspirational publisher in the world. But a flashy website is not a platform.
A Facebook page joins millions just like it. Creating an effective platform is the key to success, but it is not simple.
In Platform, Hyatt condenses his expert knowledge into step-by-step plans for building your own virtual stage, including:
● Proven strategies
● Easy-to-follow formulas
● Practical guidance
You don’t need a separate book to explain each application, each decision. You just need one book that distills it all into clear, proven paths. You just need Platform.
Michael Hyatt, one of the top business bloggers in the world, provides down-to-earth guidance for building and expanding a powerful platform.
In Platform, Hyatt will teach readers not only how to extend their influence, but also how to monetize it and build a sustainable career.
By building a platform. It has never been easier, less expensive, or more possible than right now.
proven strategies easy-to-replicate formulas practical tips Social media technologies have changed everything. Now, for the first time in history, non-celebrities can get noticed—and win big!—in an increasingly noisy world.
As the second subtitle states, author Michael Hyatt lays out “a step-by-step guide for anyone with something to say or sell.” Clearly, concisely and in easy-to-understand prose, Hyatt gives instructions from product development, launch, and marketing.
Readers found the chapters on using social media especially helpful. Hyatt shares what worked for him and gives helpful guidelines. For example, the twitter chapters start with the value of twitter, and proceed through how to set up an account, find followers, and how to efficiently use twitter to your advantage.
Few people go into such detail, or offer such practical details such as how often to tweet or what kind of content to include or how to automate and schedule your tweets.
To be sure, Hyatt had a head start on most of us when it comes to building a platform because of his long career in publishing, including eight years as CEO of Thomas Nelson Publishers. But that doesn’t diminish his success in using social media to promote his books, or mean that his advice won’t work for an average person.
I can’t recommend this book highly enough. Every page offers useful information; the chapters are short and to the point. Avid followers of Hyatt’s blog may not find much new in the book. True social media experts may also feel the same. But for new authors or speakers, or people like me who have been struggling for a few years, Platform is a book that makes sense of the new wild world of social media and gives hope that success is in reach.
